Do we need to add a pitcher?
Do you guys think we should trade for a starter? You can never have too much pitching. So with the Joba struggling in his first year. Wang injured and on the DL, and Pettitte starting to show his age. I think that we should pick someone up to help the back of the rotation. As for Andy, he was not very good at all during the second half last year. I just hope it was do to injury, not fatigue. Sergio Mitre might be the guy, but I am hoping for a little better. We could pick up a quality bullpen arm and move Ace into the rotation. Im not sure what the answer is, I just feel we are one or two arms short right now. By the way Doc is not going to happen. If it did Phil Hughes and/or Joba would be gone and we still would have a hole to fill.
Oh, by the way I am in Australia at the minute maybe we should pick up some of their Cricket batters. The score of the game on now is 674- 435 and its not over yet. Its a crazy game.
Christmas is here
or something close to it. CC lands in NY with talks of more arms to come. I have been up all night studing for finals when i heard the news break. I bet you don't care but i need to get the words up. Looks like we will be contenders again next year. our FanPost must be at least 75 words long. Right now it's only 54 words long. If you just have a quote, link, video or photo you'd like to share with the community
Pavano
will have pitched his last pitch in pinstripes. I see a lot of you think they should pick up his option. I mean come on did you guys see what i did over the last 4 years. the yanks will cut ties and never mention his name again. and i am adding some more words so its long enough to publish, but this is not enough so i have added more and more and more
Donnie Baseball
Reports say he is going to be the new hitting coach for the Dogers. I am kinda pissed by this because he has turned his back on this team. He could have had a place with this team. Personally I would love to see him be our 3rd base coach. I can never hate the man but it is a slap in the face. and this is not long enough so here are a few more words.
What will Joe Do
From LoHud Cash- "He loves Kyle Farnsworth and can't imagine trading him. Cashman claimed, "a lot of clubs are calling for him." Farnsworth, he said, would be the set-up man."
Really, I mean really I hope he is just trying to save face. Do you think Joe G. will something else to say about it. I think he is going to be the kind of guy that lets the best people play where the deserve to play. Furthor more do you guys think that he will restructure the batting order.
JD,Jeter,Abreu,A-Rod,Cano,Jorge,Matsui,Shelly,Giambi is how I would fill it out. Maybe Giambi,Shelly
Wow thats a slow bottom half/But tons of power (this is under the assumption we trade melky and don't really replace him, I would expect some speed out of his replacement)
Now for the rest of the team
Now that I think we can say that a-rod and Mo will be back, I would like to think about rounding out the rest of the team.
This means bullpen, so I came up with a list of people I think should get the most consideration.
LaTroy Hawkins, Viz, Scott Linebrink,
Eddie Guardado (would be a risk but its his second year after tommy john, could be a steal)
I would also take a shot at Kerry Wood
Resign Molina as backup catcher and the team rounds out rather nicely. If Andy retires we will need a starter though, but i really don't like any of the free-agents
Helton to yanks?
"Did anyone watch Regis and Kelly this morning? Regis made a comment about the Yankees wanting a guy like Todd Helton and finally getting him. I've searched the net and have not found any announcement of this. Maybe Regis has insider information?" I stole this from another blog just wondering if anyone has heard anything?
Excess players later in the year?
It seems like everyone wants us to trade for a new first baseman or bullpen help. I don't see much point in this. First of all are team is good right now. and what are we going to do once are 2 injured first basemen get back, if we get another? As for the 5th spot in the rotation I see it as Igawa's to have until, Hughes, Raz, and Karstens get back. (although it is Hughes's) I could see karstens good to carry if we have an injury. Once this happens we will have to many startes ( I could see Raz going back to AAA). I my opinion the yankees need to make 2 moves, first get rid of farnsworthless, ( bring back tom cat just a hope) and second they could use a backup catcher that can hit above .150, (even Fasano is hitting .178)
Backstop battles could go down to wire
Do you go with Pudge or Posada? Or maybe Mauer, Martinez or Varitek? This is what ESPN had to say about picking a catcher for the all-star game. I wonder how Varitek is even considered. Here is the updated votes.
Catcher
RANK PLAYER NAME NL TEAM TOTAL VOTES
1. Rodriguez, I. Tigers 679,403
2. Posada, J. Yankees 567,153
3. Varitek, J. Red Sox 565,335
4. Mauer, J. Twins 558,081
5. Martinez, V. Indians 306,624
Varitek got all the praise in the world from the ESPN guys while in fact he sucks. My question to you is do you ever remember there being a worse captain of a team?
