I know that most of you have been waiting for that special day with bated breath. Well, that day is now! This is that day! DBD 5.5.10- It's not Drink-o de Mayo!

I have been waiting for months for this day to finally be able to have something I want to write about to be my first DBD!
Now, ever since I can remember, non-Mexican and, I must admit, Mexican-American friends of mine have been completely and utterly confused and completely wrong regarding the origin and meaning of Cinco de Mayo. If any think to associate some significance at all to this holiday, it is usually that of Mexican Independence Day. While a good guess, Mexican Independence Day is actually September 16th and has a beautiful history and deep significance. But back to Cinco de Mayo.
