The Slipper Still Fits A Little Perspective

For all you frustrated fans out there, let an oldster give you a little perspective. My spouse and I graduated from GU in 1970. During our four years there we probably attended three men's basketball games. It was the last choice for most students for something to do. Believe me, no one had to set up a tent to get into a game....the Kennedy Center was usually 3/4 empty. It was Hank Anderson's colossally boring era. No one cared, including the student body. By contrast, our son graduated from GU in 2007 and is a rabid fan and probably always will be. Unless you've seen the progression you can't imagine what this program has done for the university -- not just in terms of basketball but in terms of what the university has been able to build and develop. Sure, getting to an Elite Eight would be grand, a Final Four fantabulous and an NCAA championship a gift from God, but let's all be thankful for what a tremendous program it has been for the facility itself, the pride of its students and alumni and the national recognition it has brought.

The Slipper Still Fits I WOULD LIKE TO SEE FEW TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY

I just watched the KY-Vanderbilt game and it was so refreshing after the game to see Coach Calipari say (more than once) that he had made a stupid coaching mistake! KY won anyway, but he freely admitted his part in making it a closer game than it needed to be. If Few would publicly say he makes a frikkin mistake once in awhile, it would give the team a boost (not blaming themselves for everything), and give Few more credibility.

The Slipper Still Fits WHY DO WE KEEP MAKING SAME MISTAKE?

Is this a coaching thing or a player thing, when we are nearing the end of the half, where we consistently wait until there are about 6 seconds on the shot clock to make a move?? I've been watching this happen over and over for several years and it's making me crazy! Inevitably, we lose the ball or take a stupid shot from 3 point land and miss. Good teams just don't do that -- I've watched the best teams in the ACC, Big Ten, etc., and they usually start their motion with 10 or so seconds. If it doesn't work 9 times out of 10, don't you think we'd make a change???

The Slipper Still Fits Enlighten me about Stockton

What exactly is David Stockton's role on the team this year? Obviously he is small. He's not listed on the roster as a red shirt. At the Augustana game (and probably others) he wasn't even suited up. Is he on the team as a token nod to his dad or will he ever get a chance to show what he can do? We saw him play at the Tacoma Dome last year and he's quick and motivated.

The Slipper Still Fits Ehlo and Heister

When are these two going to get their heads into the game?? I was so frustrated by their "coverage" late in the Augustana game when they got off on one of their usual tangents about totally irrelevant subjects, like wearing "mercury" (they meant copper) and various treatments for pain, WSU, Klay, quarterbacks, yada, yada, yada. All the while, they weren't even introducing players finally getting on to the floor for some game time, i.e., Pohling and Maag. These guys deserved to at least be acknowledged as they come on the floor. They get so little play time, and when they do get to come in, at least introduce them, guys! It's not about you, Craig and Greg, it's about the Zags. So get off your soaps and announce it. Oh for Richard Fox to be on TV instead of radio, which we can't get in our area!
