What's going on with the hot recruiting teams all instilling the buzzword "family"? I don't hear that much with Alabama recruits recently. Are we losing out on a lot of good recruits due to a few programs really selling this concept better than us? I remember in highschool a few of my peers (Willie Anderson and D. Craig) in Mobile coming back from the Alabama visit after they had won the championship claiming they didn't get that warm feel (though now I wonder if it was something else that swayed them to Auburn). Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or info to share on this.

A bit exaggerated of course, but some of these comparisons are spot on. For instance, most people don't realize the existence of tax subsidies that even poor people pay so these guys can add more to profit lines. Major league sports are great examples of the perversion of markets and these negotiations express interesting trends.

Roll 'Bama Roll A Case for Privatizing College Football

Article on the Miami Herald.  Nothing new on the rationale but interesting to read one concept of how it could be executed.  Overall I think it's a terrible direction, but I understand the argument that the current setup is already a privatized structure only it's a very mixed economy that is systemically hypocritical and excludes fair compensation for the talent-- hard to dispute-- but would this be better or worse?  I'd rather see a move in the opposite direction, but at this point I realize that is a naive expectation.  Your thoughts?
