When the Sounders released their list of protected players for the expansion draft, there were two names that were not on the list that jumped out to most of us: Riley and Le Toux. The blogosphere has been buzzing with speculation that they would take Riley, but no one talked about what I thought was likely: the loss of Le Toux. He is a high energy work horse with proven scoring ability (at least in non-MLS games). And he is the perfect fit for an expansion team looking for players who will connect with their new fans. It looks to me like a very smart move for Philadelphia.

It is sad for the Sounders. But I can't argue with the list of players they chose to protect. Le Toux was not going to be a starting player on this roster because of our depth and Sigi's style. As an expensive (though exciting) bench player, he went unprotected and got picked up.

I am a new Sounders fan, so this stings less for me than many of you who followed him in the USL.  But I loved watching him play and will miss him.
