I realize that it's a bit late for this as it's in the sixth inning and it's the friggin' Red Sox vs. the friggin' Yankees, but since it's an oft-discussed topic around here, MLB.tv is offering a free preview/beta test of their video streaming service right now. I have to say, the quality looks awesome -- I subscribed to this a couple of years ago & it wasn't nearly this crisp. And this isn't even the premium stream, which I assume is going to be better.

So, if you're debating between EI and MLB.tv, could be worth a look to see if it's good for you.

There's actual video for this one, and it's on WTAM with Hamilton & Hegan for once. I believe this is also the first game back for DeRosa since the WBC, so we actually have something approximating a regular-season lineup today.

Carmona starts with a flyout & then walks the next batter, who steals second.

"The Nationals, carrying out their pledge to be aggressive this offseason, have acquired left-hander Scott Olsen and outfielder Josh Willingham from the Marlins, according to major-league sources.

In return, the Marlins will receive second baseman Emilio Bonifacio and two minor leaguers: Single A right-hander P.J. Dean and outfielder Jake Smolinski."

That about says it all. Doesn't sound like much of a haul for the Marlins, but as usual they're likely more interested in the salary savings than anything else.

Analyzing Lee & Halladay's quality of opposition

Over at Batter's Box, they look at the quality of opponents faced by Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay & find that, unsurprisingly, Halladay has faced stiffer competition. I don't know that I expect the Cy Young voters to give things this much analysis (in fact, I can pretty much guarantee they won't give it this much analysis), but it's interesting nonetheless.

Apparently Guillen's moving over to third base & Cabrera's going to first. Definitely diminishes Cabrera's value somewhat, though it helps to get his glove away from the hot corner.
