Yeah, so apparently Al Jefferson is playing better than Tim Duncan, and deserves to start over His Majesty in the All-Star game. During TNT's broadcasts Thursday night, Payton made this statement about Jefferson's lack of inclusion as an All-Star. And I guess later, he starts going off about how Amar'e should be starting over Tim as well (much to the amazement of the rest of the TNT gang).

In the You Tube clip Payton states that he watches a lot of the suns and not very much of the Spurs. That should tell you everything right there, so there's really no need to try and disect his reasons as to why he spewing crap on national tv. And then he starts going off on Kenny about how much better he was than the Jet (the real Jet, not this Jason Terry fella who stole Kenny's nickname and pretends to fly around the court when he makes a basket). I'm just glad that all of my hatred of Payton has been justified by seeing this mindless drivel.  What an ass!

2-time back-to-back Regular Season MVP, 3-time NBA FInals MVP, 4 NBA Championships - what more do you want from the man?

So Timmy D hit the 1,000 game milestone last night, and that made me want to contemplate his career. A Number One Overall draft pick in 1997, he quickly became The Franchise, taking the torch willingly passed to him by David Robinson. What ensued the next 11+ years is legendary stuff, making him a Hall of Fame lock.

I know that there was a lot of complaining and Front Office ripping after the George Hill draft pick. Especially after his "awesome" summer league performance.

And I also know that pretty much everyone here has now come to the consensus that he was a great pick, and has forgiven the FO for a seemingly miscalculated blunder.

But to those of you who were part of the faction that hated on Cubits, y'all weren't really too far off your rockers, because it seems that even the coaching staff and FO were a little leary of what their draft pick would become. This notebook article has a small section (the second section, after the part about Pop retiring before 2016) about the Spurs' dilemma in dealing with the thought that George might not be what they thought he was cracked up to be. Good for us that he is a tough little cracker, er...um...player.

Okay, so when the Red freakin' Rocket misses a wide open 3-pointer, it seems that i'm not the only one who would like to rip his head off.

Now if I could only seem to find the same kind of evidence in favor of Michael Finley, I would be satisfied. And Jacque Vaughn. Yes, what I woudn't do for an opportunity to see the head of Finley and/or Vaughn on the ground next to their lifeless bodies (a little morbid? not for Halloween, it isn't). Not that I wish them ill will, but them not playing on the court would do wonders for my expectation of Spurs greatness. It's a little lacking at the moment, and I need a pick-me-up.

This has been one of my most annoying things about the Spurs, and it has finally been remedied. I just hope that he's not worse than the nasally, uninspired, non-entertaining, ear-grating voice of a PA announcer that was Stan Kelly. But if you have a knickname of "Big Kev" in the middle of your first and last name, then you should automatically be an upgrade...am I right, or am I right?

So it appears that our young blood on the front line (Mahinmi) is going to miss all of training camp with a sprained ankle. This bodes well for his development and what he will be able to bring to the floor this season. Pop said he was planning on playing him 35 minutes a game during the preseason, so now that's out the window. Who knows how much he'll be able to contribute and play this season because of this. I don't know, maybe a miracle will happen, and one of the other "young bloods" will show some promise. And it will most likely be Curious George - all signs point to him; big bright neon yellow signs.

So mysa.com reports that Jannero Pargo is a possibility to join the team. I'm thinking that means if they do indeed sign him, they are thinking of putting Curious George down to the Toros. Either that or burying him on the bench, which doesn't make sense. I think Pargo would definitely be an upgrade for the immediate over JV and Hill, but I don't know if I'm sold on him overall. But if this does happen, it doesn't give me a lot of faith in the FO, because once again their draft pick won't pay off for the immediate.  And also their belief that Hill was going to be an immediate impact player was off, so that gives me a LOT of confidence in their ability to evaluate player talent. Who was it that we could have drafted instead of Hill? I can't seem to remember.

After his post game press conference, we can pronounce that Kobe knows nothing.  I think half of his answers were "I don't know."  Here is a sample:

Reporter: "When did you feel like tonight you weren't going to be able to make it out of the hole?"

Kobe: "I'm not sure. I don't know."

Reporter: "Can you tell me how you see the Lakers prospects from here?"

Kobe: "I don't know, I don't know."

Reporter: "You said earlier that Bynum addresses the needs of rebounding and shot-blocking.  Is there anything else that you feel needs to be addressed in the future?"

Kobe: "I don't know. I have no idea."

Reporter: "Kobe, you embraced with Doc Rivers after the game.  What did he tell you."

Kobe: "(Laughing) Honestly, I don't know.  My mind was someplace else."

For the record, he did actually answer some questions with full sentences, but I like to think that he does actually know nothing.  I fully enjoyed seeing him wallow last night, almost as much as he and Fisher crying when we took them out a few years back.  Good stuff.
