Cole Gillespie

Cole Gillespie is quietly having a very strong year in Double A. While Laporta and Gamel have had more fan fair this year... Gillespie is hitting .287/.372/.538 with 9 homers.

Gillespie is still very much blocked and is 23 years old. What does his future hold? Could the brewers maybe ship him someplace for some pitching? When should Gillespie get his shot and how far away is he?

Any news on Cole would be appreciated.

Whats the story with Homer Bailey right now. While he has a 1.03 ERA through 4 starts he only has 16 ks in 26 innings. That being said... his K/BB ratio is 4/1.

what do these numbers say about Bailey's progress? Can be succesfull in the Bigs without striking a bunch of guys out, will those K rates improve, and how has he actually looked this year?

Any predictions based on his first couple of starts on what we could see from him in the near future?

Iguchi to the Padres

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Padres and Tadahito Iguchi have come to terms on a one-year contract

A pretty odd choice for Iguchi. The second baseman wanted a three-year deal and was offered two years by at least one team, the Rockies. However, he's opted to take a one-year deal to play in the game's toughest ballpark for hitters, something that doesn't figure to help his value next winter. He'll be the stopgap second baseman while Matt Antonelli continues to develop.

-Rotoworld

What does this say about Antonelli, will he debut this year? Also what does this do to the Rockies? Do the Chris Burke talks re-open now that they lost out on their target player?

given the recent Church and Schneider trade... is it reasonable to assume Flores will be the starting catcher next year?

The 23 year old hit .244 with a .310 obp last year while showing limited power.

Free agent catchers include Paul Lo Duca, Michael Barrett and soon to be FA Estrada.

do you bring in a vet to back Flores up if you don't go after one of these guys?

Jeff Allison

Rotoworld reported that "Jeff Allison is working out at the Marlins' spring training facility in Jupiter, Fla.

''He's done everything that was required and asked of him,'' general manager Larry Beinfest said of Allison, who overcame a heroin addiction and last October was charged with the felony possession of a stolen vehicle while with Single-A Greensboro (N.C.). The Marlins don't have a timetable for Allison's return to the minors"...

Does Allison have a chance at making it to the bigs at this point... and does he still posses the same sort of potential he once did? Keep in mind that because he was drafted out of H.S he is not really all that old for a prospect in the low minors...

Blake Dewitt has really been showing signs of life lately and has his batting average up to .279 with an OPS of .762. He is also 10 for his last 18.

Is there any hope left for Dewitt? Does anyone know if he has changed his stance, or had some sort of breakthrough that has lead to the increase in his numbers? What is his story as a prospect these days?

I was wondering what people thought about the seasons Cedric Hunter, Cole Gillespie, Blake DeWitt, and Phil Humber are each having. Each one of these players has, in the past, flashed some serious potential. Hunter and Gillespie have been holding their own, but not playing overwhelming well, while Humber and DeWitt have struggled.

What do their futures look like right now... and how have their respective seasons helped or hurt teir status as prospects?

Does anyone know what happened to Clayton Kershaw his last start?

He had a horrid start (7 runs in an inning and a third) and I was not sure if he was hurt or if something else had happen. He got pulled after pitching a little over an inning but has otherwise been great this year. Is this any reason for concern?

The reds just sent Edwin Encarnacion down to the minors.

With the emergence of Hamilton and a healthy outfield (shifting Freel to the infield on a more frequent basis) is there a possibility the Reds could deal Edwin for some pitching help?

If so, where could he end up. The Giants crossed my mind as a possibility...

Ian Snell

Ian Snell has been rather impressive this spring. Behind a slightly improved Pirates team, in a weak division, what do people think Snell will do this year? So far Snell has a 1.69 ERA and an 18/5 K/BB ratio in 16 innings. While spring training numbers are largely meaningless, are these numbers any indication of a good season? As rotoworld stated "His command only needs to get so much better for him to become a No. 3 starter."
