Buster Olney says the Angels offered Beltre 77 million

It's Buster Olney, so take it with a grain of salt, but that's interesting if true.

Angels interested in Podsednik

Hopefully Rosenthal thinks it's April 1st.

Orioles, Dbacks closing in on Mark Reynolds trade

Looks like Reynolds to Baltimore for David Hernandez and Kam Mickolio

A's appear to be out of the Beltre sweepstakes

Good news for us if true, though it's looking like Boston might be back in it.

Yankees and Jeter agree to 3 year contract

It will pay him 15-17 million a year, and there is a "tricky" option for a 4th year.

Yankees to re-sign Mariano Rivera for 2 years, 30 million

Also, the Angels supposedly offered him a 3 year deal, but he wanted to stay with the Yankees.

Angels close to deal with Hisanori Takahashi

I'm potentially okay with this, depending on the salary. I'm guessing he'll be filling the Darren Oliver role of versatile lefty reliever, with the added bonus of being able to start in a pinch.

Crawford looking for an 8 year deal, Werth is looking for 6.

"Indications are that Crawford is asking clubs to sign him to at least an eight-year deal, while Werth is seeking at least six years. The competition among teams like the Red Sox, Angels, Tigers and Rangers for one of the outfielders is expected to be intense. Each player will likely wind up commanding a deal with an average annual value worth somewhere between $16 million and $19 million. If the player winds up "settling’’ for a year less than he wants, then the per-year salary will climb." Yikes.

Rockies sign De La Rosa for 3 years, 33 million

They also extended Tulowitski's extension another 6 years for 119 million(7 years/134 million if you include the 2014 option on his previous deal that will be exercised for sure now). Big day for the Rockies.

Baseball America's Top 10 Angels Prospects

1. Mike Trout, of 2. Tyler Chatwood, rhp 3. Jean Segura, 2b 4. Hank Conger, c 5. Jordan Walden, rhp 6. Kaleb Cowart, 3b 7. Garrett Richards, rhp 8. Fabio Martinez, rhp 9. Mark Trumbo, 1b/of 10. Cam Bedrosian, rhp

Giants re-sign Huff for 2 years, 22 million.

Plus a club option for 2013. Seems a little risky to me, he had a really good 2010, but he's been inconsistent throughout his career.

Oakland breaks off talks with Iwakuma

He was apparently looking for Barry Zito money on a shorter contract while the As were looking to pay him 3-5 million annually. Iwakuma is preparing to announce his return to the Rakuten Golden Eagles at an upcoming fan fest.

Felix Hernandez wins Cy Young, Weaver finishes 5th

I expected the voters to chose CC based on his win total, but I'm glad I was wrong.

Tigers sign Joaquin Benoit for 3 years, 16.5 million

He can also earn $1 million in incentives in each season. I bet Scott Boras and Rafael Soriano are both happy about this.

Marlins sign John Buck to a 3 year, 18 million dollar deal

I found this bit amazing too. "This will be Florida's biggest free agent signing since Carlos Delgado in 2005."

More coaching staff changes

•Bullpen catcher Steve Soliz is now the bullpen coach. •Tom Gregorio who was the minor league catching instructor is now the bullpen catcher •Former bullpen coach Orlando Mercado is now the minor league catching instructor. •Assistant athletic trainer Adam Nevala is now the head athletic trainer, replacing Ned Bergert. •Also, the Picciolo and DiSarcina hirings were confirmed.

Rob Picciolo is the new bench coach

He worked as a minor league instructor for the Angels the past 5 years.

2010 AL Gold Gloves

* C. Joe Mauer * 1B. Mark Teixeira * 2B. Robinson Cano * 3B. Evan Longoria * SS. Derek Jeter * OF: Franklin Gutierrez * OF: Ichiro Suzuki * OF: Carl Crawford * Pitcher: Mark Buehrle Of course Jeter wins again. I think Jeter could DH and still win a GG. There are a couple other odd choices, but I think Jeter was the worst.

Casey Kotchman is a FA

Remember when it looked like he was going to be a pretty good hitter and great defensive 1B for us for years? It's kind of sad how far he's fallen.

Choo hopes to move to a better team

He doesn't rule out of the possibility of staying with the Indians because of their young talent though. If the Indians do make him available, he would be an interesting alternative to Crawford or Werth.

Torii is going to be a guest analyst on MLB Network's postseason coverage

Along with Eric Chavez, Dallas Braden and Chris Young(I think it's the Diamondbacks one).

Felix Hernandez done for the season.

This gives Weaver a pretty good shot at the strikeout title(Hernandez only leads by 3 Ks), unless the Angels shut him down too.

66ers partner with Angels

Goodbye Rancho. Inland Empire (High A) now an Angels affiliate. Better than Bakersfield.

Shields might retire after this season

If this is the end, it will be sad to see him go. When he was at his best, he was one of the better relievers in the league.

The Quakes are now a Dodgers affiliate

Unfortunate, I liked going to the Epicenter.

Scioscia's contract extension worth 50 million according to Rosenthal

Angels manager Mike Scioscia's ten-year contract extension with the Angels that he signed in 2009 is worth a whopping $50MM. Rosenthal had the dollar amount confirmed by two different sources. Scioscia can opt out after 2015, and each of the last three seasons is worth $6MM.
