Mini-TWIS: Notre Dame Fans Can't Decide Whether They Want Brian Kelly Or Anthrax

Editor's note: We didn't have a This Week in Schadenfreude this week, but we'll have a season recap next week. For now, let this mini-edition evaluating the reaction to the Brian Kelly hiring keep you company.
↵
↵ ↵

↵Notre Dame just hired a guy who built Grand Valley State into a D-II ↵power, used the Mike DeBord -- the former Michigan offensive coordinator ↵who failed so miserably at Central Michigan that he resigned before anyone was going ↵to fire him -- leftovers to put CMU back at the top of the ↵MAC, and then took a .500 Big East team to an undefeated two-time BCS ↵participant powerhouse. Most people who follow Notre Dame are ↵disappointed. ↵

↵

↵This is because most people who follow Notre Dame hate them. But even ↵the ones who like the Irish are seriously pissed off about the ↵most common-sense hire Notre Dame has made since Lou Holtz. Herein, a ↵mini-This Week In Schadenfreude covering Notre Dame reaction to hiring ↵the premiere coach available this offseason. May all these goofs be so ↵right it hurts in three years. ↵

↵

↵To ND ↵Nation! ↵

↵
↵⇥ND has said no to ↵⇥Gruden Saban and Stoops in the last decade ↵⇥
↵⇥by ACros ↵⇥s ↵⇥That's the kind of institution it ↵⇥is. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥If and when Kelly is named, the focus should be on how and why we ↵⇥failed with Stoops. ↵
↵

↵This will be the recurring theme: these coaches who will not move to ↵your sad little Indiana city no matter how much money you offer them ↵should have been hired despite their repeated insistence that you ↵couldn't get them to South Bend with a shotgun. Seriously: ↵

↵
↵⇥Once again, ND simply can't ↵⇥close ↵⇥
↵⇥by Co ↵⇥smickid ↵⇥Gruden who wanted to be here and ↵⇥they f----- it up. ↵⇥
↵⇥Meyer who wanted to be here and they f----- it up. ↵⇥
↵⇥Stoops who wanted to be here and they f----- it up. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥How fecking tough can it be? I think I should be the next AD. I ↵⇥don't know s--- about college sports, but I love ND, know how to talk to ↵⇥people and can close a sale. ↵
↵

↵Other posters declare that they're disappointed ↵that the "charade" of a coaching search will be glossed over. You know, ↵the "fact" ↵that "Stoops, like Saban, like Gruden, like Meyer all wanted ND but ↵during the processes ND whiffed on all." And the board moderator is ↵"dedicating ↵himself to getting these problems rooted out." ↵

↵

↵It's so bad that certain posters are beginning ↵to suspect that maybe the guys in charge of the University aren't ↵listening to every spittle flecked word on the board: ↵

↵
↵⇥What was it all ↵⇥for? ↵⇥
↵⇥by RandalGraves ↵⇥Can't help but feel that the good ↵⇥part of the NDN bandwidth for this past year was wasted on anit-Brian ↵⇥Kelly banter. Many prominent posters here rallied relentlessly that the ↵⇥administration should aspire to something greater than Brian Kelly. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥I don't think they gave or give a damn what NDN thinks or says. ↵
↵

↵This is the reason the O ↵RLY owl was invented: ↵

↵
↵⇥NDNation has been ignored for over 10 years. The results ↵⇥speak for themselves. ↵
↵

↵And a guy posts "Coach Kelly: Welcome to Notre Dame" ↵only to get this ↵response: ↵

↵
↵⇥You are utterly nauseating. ↵⇥
↵⇥by Cash ↵⇥"Coach Kelly" [shiver] ↵⇥doesn't read this board. We don't take kindly to people treating this ↵⇥board as some sort of conduit to communicate with the team, its coaches, ↵⇥etcetera. ↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥But beyond that, you are the poster child for the ↵⇥zippety-doo-dah-whistling alumnus who never dares look upon dear ol' ↵⇥Notre Dame with a critical eye. And you're nauseating. ↵
↵

↵So there you go. May all these people be so far beyond right that ND ↵Nation takes up a collection to drill a hole into the Earth's core and ↵deposit their new coach and everyone involved in hiring him there. ↵
