There May Not Be a Feud Between Busch and Earnhardt Afterall

The other day I suggested that there might be a feud brewing between Kyle Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr well after reading Reid Spencer's article "Kyle Busch: One Who Got Away" (thanks to Marc at Full Throttle who sent me the link after reading my piece) I think the feud might be a little different than I first thought.  As and aside, make sure you follow the link to Spencer's article, it is a good read.

It would seem that Busch has his sights set on someone else other than Earnhardt and that would be Rick Hendrick.  Busch's slams of Earnhardt (both verbally and on the track) are mearly the means to an end, which is to say 'I told you so' to Rick Hendrick for firing him and hiring Earnhardt in his place.

In the last 41 Cup races since Earnhardt joined the Hendrick organization and Busch left for Joe Gibbs Racing Busch has won 10 races while Earnhardt has only one win (2 if you count the non-points pre-season Bud Shootout).

Busch has also won 11 Nationwide races and 5 Camping World Truck Races.  Now I know Earnhardt does not race in the Truck Series and is not a regular participant in the Nationwide Series but he has participated in 11 events since the start of the 2008 season and has not won a single event while Busch has won 11 out of his 34 starts since the same time.  Impressive.

I can't think of a better way to say 'I told you' so than winning in anything and everything you enter.

Perhaps there is some merit in this feud thing after all, we just have to change the participants from Busch vs Earnhardt to Busch vs Hendrick.
