The NHL schedule will be announced on Tuesday, but as is customary this time of year, some details are leaking out. Blueland Blog, the official blog of the Atlanta Thrashers, published a full list of home openers today.
Notable dates:
- The Chicago Blackhawks will hoist their Stanley Cup Champions banner to the rafters of United Center on Saturday, October 9 with their rival Detroit Red Wings in the building. They'll open their season two night earlier on the 7th in Colorado.
- The Philadelphia Flyers will raise their Eastern Conference Championship banner against the Avalanche on Monday, October 11.
- The Pittsburgh Penguins will open their new building, the Consol Energy Center, on Thursday, October 7 against the Flyers.
- There are four games on Thursday, October 7, which appears to be the first night of the season (excluding European games). Chicago at Colorado, Philly at Pittsburgh, Calgary at Edmonton and Toronto at Montreal.
