Report: Billy King Named Nets' New Team President

When we last saw Billy King, he was mucking up the Allen Iverson era in Philadelphia with some poor free agent decisions. He eventually was fired by the team in 2007, and many felt it was a few years too late.

So it's kind of surprising to hear that Billy King is back in the game so quickly. According to NBA.com's David Aldridge, King has accepted an executive position with the New Jersey Nets.

Breaking: Billy King accepts Nets' executive position, will be named @ Thursday press conference.

King replaces Rod Thorn, who resigned last month. CBS Sports' Ken Berger reports that the Nets' decision came down to King and former Cavaliers GM Danny Ferry. King won out mostly because new coach Avery Johnson supported him.

For New Jersey's sake, I hope King performs much better here than he did in Philadelphia, but let's just say I'm not holding my breath.
