Last Friday, Manny Ramirez had to come out of a game early because of leg trouble. He sat out the entire weekend, and following an MRI Tuesday morning, he is headed back to the disabled list:
#Dodgers place Manny Ramirez on the DL and reinstate Brad Ausmus from the DL
This is Manny's third trip to the DL this season, and the second trip he's taken because of a right calf injury. He was just on the DL with a hamstring strain and only came off on July 14th, a day before he re-injured himself.
Joe Torre called this latest strain "significant," and Manny's looking at something like a three-week timeline, which is the last thing the Dodgers need as they fight to remain in the race. Losers of five in a row, LA sits six back of the Padres going into action on Tuesday, and Manny has been arguably their best hitter. Though Xavier Paul and Garret Anderson are available to fill in, neither is a player the Dodgers want to see picking up critical at bats.
