It's an impact that's not as threatening to long-term well-being as the line drive Rangers pitcher Dustin Nippert took off his head on Monday night, but then that fails to take into consideration the feasibility of future Carl Crawford offspring.
Leading off first base in the top of the first inning, Crawford took a slightly wayward pick-off attempt by Orioles starter Jake Arrieta to the groin. As the announcer said, it's a prime example why players should be wearing a cup. Or better still, why one should retreat to first base with the right foot first.↵
