The Brewers aren't very good, and slugging first baseman Prince Fielder is set to become a free agent after the 2011 season. Fielder is also said to be seeking a big, Teixeira-like contract. Result? Trade rumors!
The White Sox are interested in Prince Fielder; it appears they probably can't make a deal unless they offer Gordon Beckham in the package.
From Ken Rosenthal:
Reversal from yesterday: #WhiteSox trying to accelerate talks for Prince. Problem: #Brewers want SP, and view Hudson as only a 3 or 4.
The White Sox have also been talking with the Nationals about Adam Dunn, but Dunn has a high price, and unlike Fielder, Dunn's a free agent this offseason. So Fielder, then, works as an alternate possibility. The first baseman has a .902 OPS on the year, and a .957 OPS since 2007, with 40-50 home run power.
