Middleweights Patrick Cote (13-6 MMA, 4-6 UFC) and Tom Lawlor (6-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) are scheduled to meet at UFC 121.
MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the news today with sources close to the event, who said that bout agreements have been signed, though it's unknown whether the fight will air on the evening's televised card.
Cote is coming off a loss in his return to the cage against Alan Belcher. The Belcher fight was his first fight since a bad knee injury suffered in his bid for the UFC middleweight championship against Anderson Silva. Despite his 4-6 UFC record Cote is a very respected middleweight and a handful for most opponent.
Lawlor has garnered more attention for his fight entrances than he has his fights. He is still a talented fighter but has lost two consecutive fights and desperately needs a win to retain his place in the UFC.
