Thursday has been busy for the Orioles.
First, they hired Buck Showalter to be their next manager. And now, they've reportedly agreed to send Miguel Tejada to the Padres, in exchange for Wynn Pelzer, according to the North County Times' Dan Hayes.
Recently shifted to the pen, he's 6-9 with a 4.20 ERA, 102 H and 83/56 K/BB in 94 1/3 IP for Double-A San Antonio this year. With a big fastball-slider combo, he has the potential to become a fine late-inning reliever. Control is obviously a major issue, though.
The Baltimore Sun was the first to report the move on Thursday, when rumors began to fly after Tejada was scratched from the lineup and Josh Bell was called up from Triple-A Norfolk.
The deal is pending approval from Major League Baseball, which likely means that money is also making the trip to San Diego.
