James Toney Wanted Brock Lesnar, Not Randy Couture

↵

"The person I wanted to fight right off the bat was Brock Lesnar," Toney said in a live chat with MMAFighting.com. "He's a champion, I'm a champion and I wanted to do it. But they said I couldn't do that. Then they said, 'How about Kimbo?' But I said, 'That's too easy. That's like kicking a little kid's butt.' But then Randy started saying he wanted to fight me, so I said, 'OK, you're the first one getting it.'"

It's really too bad they didn't go ahead and give Lesnar the first crack at Toney.  I couldn't imagine a more violent and one-sided fight than Toney/Lesnar. As it stands Toney probably has about a 20-30 second window to land a big punch on Couture before Randy can clinch him up. Once the clinch is established, the fight is over. Couture will beat him up in the clinch and take James down and finish him.

People are being very gullible in believing "camp talk" about James' wrestling and submission game. He's going to get schooled unless he lands an early KO punch, and really Toney's power is below average anyway so the chances of him connecting with a one-punch KO are slim.

This will be ugly.
