Kevin Millwood Hits The DL With Right Forearm Strain

Veteran Kevin Millwood was supposed to be one of the Orioles' bigger trade chips. Instead, things haven't gone as planned, and the workhorse is taking a trip to the DL:

As the Orioles expected might be the case, starter Kevin Millwood's right forearm will require a trip to the disabled list.

Baltimore announced on Tuesday that Millwood had been placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right forearm.

On May 23rd, Millwood owned a 3.71 ERA with a 3.5 K/BB. Since then, he's allowed 43 runs in 39.2 innings over eight starts, with a K/BB of 1.5. His latest effort lasted all of one inning, and the Orioles decided to take this opportunity to give him a break.

Millwood will be eligible to return towards the end of July, so he may still end up traded to some team in search of a veteran presence. However, his trade value is now almost completely shot.
