Paul Goydos Shoots Fourth Ever 59 In First Round Of John Deere Classic

Paul Goydos became just the fourth ever player to shoot a 59 in a PGA event, joining only the likes of David Duvall, Al Geiberger, and Chip Beck in accomplishing the feat. Duvall was the most recent until now, recording a 59 in 1999 at the Bob Hope Classic.

Goydos sank 12 birdies and recorded no bogeys in his opening round at the John Deere Classic, held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. Barring anything unprecedented or unusual, Goydos will likely take a clubhouse lead into round 2 tomorrow, having a 5 stroke lead over his nearest competition.
