Paul Goydos and his 59 score was the big story of the first round at the John Deere Classic, but Steve Stricker's 60 set him up for a chance to challenge the lead in Round 2. Indeed, Stricker capitalized on the opportunity, shooting 5-under for the day to take a one-stroke lead.
Stricker, who has eight career PGA Tour wins to his name, now stands at 16-under for the tournament. Goydos' 3-under places him a stroke behind for the tournament. The leaderboard drops off significantly after these two, with Jeff Maggert, Matt Jones, and George McNeill tied for third at 11-under.
