Sporting Event May Be Unfair, Reports Aubrey Huff

New, comments

Aubrey Huff is all in an "Aubrey" about the All-Star Game! Wait, messed that up. Let me try that again: Aubrey Huff is all in a "Huff" about the All-Star Game!

“It’s a sham,” Huff told CSNBayArea.com by phone Friday morning from Washington, D.C. “To me, the All-Star Game is retarded.”

Huff's rationale -- fans aren't the most informed voters, and they shouldn't help determine an outcome that holds major World Series implications -- is sound. My first instinct was to ridicule him for being a whiny crybaby dumb four-year-old whiny baby, but then I found that Huff, who has put together many very good seasons at the plate, has never appeared in a single All-Star Game.

Regardless, how else are we going to decide who hosts the World Series? This is the problem we run into when we insist on a best-of-odd-number playoff format. All World Series should be a best-of-six, and if the series ties 3-3, the winner should be decided by... the following year's All-Star Game. Glad that's settled.
