In the course of one morning practice, the Denver Broncos' backfield depth may have just gone from a strength to a serious liability. As our Broncos blog Mile High Report reported today, Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter -- the two top running backs on Denver's roster--both left practice after apparently suffering leg injuries:
Bad news early in Broncos camp. RB Knowshon Moreno appeared to injure his right leg and was carted off. His leg appeared to buckle a bit on a cut.
A few minutes later, Correll Buckhalter limped to the locker room as well, favoring his left leg.
Obviously we have no idea on the severity of the injury and I won't try to guess.
Though neither injury is welcome news, Moreno's is probably the bigger deal here; the Georgia Bulldogs alum was primed for a big year in Denver's offense after a successful rookie season. And while it would be premature to speculate on the severity of either player's injury, we'll just note that a non-contact injury like Moreno's usually means a ligament is involved. Whether that means just a minor tweak or something worse, we'll have to wait and see.
