David Nalbandian Stays Hot, Upsets Robin Soderling At Rogers Cup

David Nalbandian continued his hot streak by defeating fifth-seeded Robin Soderling, 4-6 6-4 6-1, in the third round of the Rogers Cup on Thursday. The victory marks Nalbandian's 11th straight win, which began in a Davis Cup quarterfinal match against Nikolay Davydenko on July 9. Nalbandian is coming off a unexpected title run last week at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington D.C.

Seven of Nalbandian's 11 consecutive wins have come against top-25 players.

“I think it’s a good victory for me. This match as a different category than a player from last week or even David Ferrer this week. But I’m feeling good. I felt good today. In the beginning I had chances and couldn’t take it. And then I played very good and I’m going to try and keep going."

Nalbandian will either take on fourth-seeded Andy Murray or 18-seeded Gael Monfils in his quarterfinal match on Friday.
