The main threat of showers for Saturday will be this morning through about midday. As of 8:30am EDT, there was a small shower on radar just to the west-northwest of Michigan International Speedway. Some of these showers during the morning could produce heavy rain but from what I've seen on radar I am not too concerned with that.

Showers and storms of an isolated nature will be the concern for later this afternoon. It appears most of the afternoon will be mainly dry, it will just be hot and very humid. High temperatures is expected to be 89 but when you factor in humidity it will feel like it is the mid to upper 90s.

SATURDAY

9:00 a.m EDT – Sprint Cup Practice  – Mostly cloudy, shower or storm likely - temp: 76
10:00 a.m EDT – Nationwide Qualifying  – Mostly cloudy, poss. shower or storm - temp: 80
12:00 p.m EDT – Sprint Cup Final Practice – Hot, humid, sun & clouds, iso. shower or storm - temp: 86
1:00 p.m EDT – Nationwide Carfax 250 – Hot, humid, sun & clouds, iso. shower or storm - temp: 88

As a cold front continues to work through Saturday night into Sunday morning showers and storms remain a threat. The situation doesn't look like a total washout but will have to watch for storms with locally heavy rains as well as some being strong to severe Sunday morning into Sunday midday.

The cold front is forecasted to pass and clear the area close to 2pm Sunday. This timing could mean a delay in the start of the Sprint Cup race with all the shower and storm activity taking place ahead of the cold front through the morning and early afternoon.

SUNDAY
1:00 p.m EDT – Sprint Carfax 400 – Mostly cloudy, humid, poss. shower or storm - temp: 85
