The New Orleans Saints' quest for a veteran running back apparently led them to Ladell Betts, released earlier this year by the Redskins, and the deal is reportedly done.
Betts had 210 yards and two scores on 56 carries last year before a knee injury ended his season. The contract details are officially hush-hush, but that's only officially:
Ladell Betts gets $50K signing bonus and $[755]K salary to join the Saints. As we first told you, Saints made initial to him offer last week
La Canfora also tweets that incentives could push the deal to $1 million.
Betts is likely to start out no better than the third-string back -- the Saints were in the market because of an injury to Lynell Hamilton.
