Rams WR Donnie Avery Suffers Serious Knee Injury, Could Be Done For The Year

With 1:32 left in the Rams preseason game against the Patriots on Thursday night, WR Donnie Avery went on a deep route down the sideline .As QB Sam Bradford through the pass, Avery jumped to get it, then fell and grabbed his knee.

He was later carted off the field.

The injury appears to be to his right knee and early signs are that it's serious.

''He probably has a significant knee injury,'' St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo told The Associated Press. ''We'll know further when we get the test.''

Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com writes that the fear in St. Louis right now is that he's done for the season.

This would be a significant blow to the Rams, as SB Nation's Turf Show Times writes.

The Rams have a talented group of young receivers, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a name on the roster right now who has Avery's deep speed and his playmaking threat on the outside.

Avery was a second round pick by the Rams in 2008. He started 28 of 32 games in his first two seasons.
