Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan – best known as the player that missed the penalty kick awarded after Luis Suárez’s hand ball – has made the jump to the English Premier League. In a move reportedly valued at £12 million, the 24-year-old moves to Sunderland. There, Gyan is expected to partner Darren Bent in the Black Cats’ attack.

Gyan moved to Rennes from Udinese two years ago, scoring 14 goals over two seasons in France. This summer, Gyan scored three goals for Ghana, including the extra time match-winner against the United States in the Round of 16, as the Black Stars advanced to the quarterfinals.
