With such a tightly-contested tournament, the lead is bound to change plenty of times, and we're certainly seeing that in Round 3 of the Bridgestone Invitational. Not long after Ernie Els climbed the leaderboard, Ryan Palmer and Sean O'Hair have made aggressive strides to take a share of the lead.
Neither golfer was within the top ten entering the third round. Palmer recorded seven birdies without committing a single bogey to chalk up a 7-under round. The 33-year old has three career PGA Tour wins. Meanwhile, O'Hair scored an eagle at the second hole to complement his four birdies on Saturday. O'Hair, 28, also has three Tour wins to his name.
Though these two have climbed to the top of the leaderboard, the standings are no less crowded. As of 5:00 Eastern, seven golfers are within three strokes of them.
Elsewhere on the course, Mickelson is running into trouble in the third round. Two consecutive bogeys in the back nine have him at 1-over throught 15 holes.
