It only took one round for UFC hall of famer Matt Hughes to get his 18th win in the UFC and he did it with style. Hughes was able to land a left hook mid-way through a round that had featured mostly feeling out to that point. The hook dropped Almeida and Hughes followed him to the ground and latched on with an old school catch wrestling front choke that put the submission specialist to sleep.
It was a huge statement for a man in Hughes who many were calling for to retire should he lose. Now on a two fight win streak Hughes is putting himself back into a position of true relevance in the 170 pound division.
