Consider Yourself Namechecked, Gator Nation

Emmitt Smith's emotional induction speech was one of the highlights of the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony on Saturday, yet there were some taken aback by him neglecting to mention his alma mater, the University of Florida. The aggrieved cited his profusion of giving thanks to just about every other figure he came across in his football playing life.

Well, Gator folks, be aggrieved no longer, as Emmitt took to Twitter on Sunday to own up to his oversight and plead forgiveness.

Even though it has been said that Emmitt spent about 100 hours preparing his address, PFT's Mike Florio said he heard from a well-placed source that event organizers counseled for last-minute cuts. Perhaps Emmitt's shout-out to Florida was lost in the shuffle.

UPDATE: And if a Twitter mention weren't enough, Emmitt decided to call out to Florida during a halftime appearance during the Hall of Fame game broadcast.
