MAX PAPIS, No. 13 GEICO TOYOTA (finished 22nd): COMMENT ON YOUR RAYBESTOS BRAKES TODAY. “They were awesome. I still feel like I’m kind of a rookie because this is my number 30 race so I haven’t done a season yet. I still feel I deserve the Raybestos Rookie of the Year [smiles].” COMMENT YOUR RACE TODAY. “I fought so hard and very proud and pleased with everyone at the GEICO Toyota. We did everything we could. It was not an easy day but I was very proud because we fought, we took opportunity starts and restarts were amazing, really shoveled through. It’s a tough competition in the Cup series. If you miss it by a little bit it looks like a lot. But finishing, fighting, that’s what I wanted to do and I’m proud of what I did.”
RON FELLOWS, No. 36 TOMMY BALDWIN RACING CHEVROLET (finished 40th –suspension): “We struggled with the handling. The track was a lot hotter and I was just flopping around. I wanted to be able to stay in the top-20 and I just couldn’t maintain the pace. The car was just flopping around too much and then racing somebody you shouldn’t be racing with. I gave him all kinds of room and he hit me in the right rear and then the right front. The hit on the right rear ended up snapping the track bar clear off. End of day. It’s just very disappointing. I thought we had a car we could race into the top-10 and see where things go from there. We learned a bunch with this crew and we will be able to provide them with some input and when they come back we’ll be a little bit better.”
