In the most snidely worded statement to appear on a professional team's official website since Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert unleashed his Comic Sans tirade on the world, the Oakland Raiders posted a terse rebuke of ESPN reporter Adam Schefter's report that Oakland is one of three teams pursuing a trade for Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is once again making untrue statements about The Oakland Raiders, this time regarding Matt Leinart. The Raiders have never discussed trading for Leinart.

The Raiders are very happy about their quarterback situation.

Insofar as anyone can be thrilled to have Colt Brennan, Kyle Boller and Bruce Gradkowski on the roster, I suppose.

Of course, the key part of the Raiders retaliation is that "once again" part, implying that Schefter is constantly spreading falsehoods about the team. The Raiders did at one point lash out at Schefter when he had reported that the team was ready to fire then-head coach Art Shell. Never mind the fact that Shell was actually let go by the team. Until it's officially announced by the team, apparently it's untrue in Al Davis' world.
