Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville has been hospitalized with chest pain, according to the team.
He experienced "severe discomfort" in his chest on Tuesday night at his home and was admitted to the hospital. The team announced the news on Wednesday morning with a statement from team physician Dr. Michael Terry.
"Joel presented severe discomfort late last night at his home in suburban Chicago," Dr. Terry said in the statement. "He went to the emergency room and was admitted early this morning. He is currently in stable condition and is being treated for an undisclosed health concern today, not of cardiac nature. Further testing is ongoing and we will provide an update when possible."
Assistant Mike Haviland will step in behind the bench for Coach Q on Wednesday night as the Blackhawks host the Minnesota Wild. For more on the story, check in with SB Nation Chicago and Second City Hockey.
