Vontaze Burfict is likely the biggest enigma likely to hear his name called when the 2012 NFL Draft gets underway on Thursday night. The Arizona State Sun Devils linebacker had plenty of issues during his college career, the majority of which were made public, leading to quite a few questions about his maturity as he transitions to playing professional football.
According to the player in an exclusive interview with SB Nation's Mocking The Draft, however, Burfict says he's grown up and focused on football.
It was part of growing up, who is not immature in college? I have been trying to change my image with the media. Even my trainer has been trying to get me mad and upset in training to see how I will react in training when I am tired. I am ready to make an impact on the field.
It remains to be seen whether Burfict has matured enough to make our own Jon Bois' nightmare scenario play out, but it will be interesting to see how the linebacker's past effects his future beginning Thursday evening.
