The Buffalo Bills have a 1:30 p.m. (ET) press conference planned for Thursday afternoon to formally announce the addition of free agent Mario Williams. Previous reports out of Buffalo indicated the Bills would make Williams the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
ESPN reports Williams' deal is for six years. No word on the numbers yet but if they really did make him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL then the total value should be above the $91.5 million Julius Peppers received on his six-year deal from the Chicago Bears.
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora can't confirm but hears Williams will average $16 million per season and $50 million guaranteed. That would put the total value around $96 million.
The Bills are building a nice defensive line after picking up Marcel Dareus last year and now Williams. If Peyton Manning goes to the Dolphins, they'll need all the pass rushers they can get.
