The race for Peyton Manning continues nearly three days into the NFL free agency period. As usual, there's no clear answer on exactly who is the leader in the clubhouse for Manning's services but most of the buzz is starting to center around the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans. ESPN reports the Broncos and Titans are in the lead while everyone else, which means the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, are considered longshots.
VIDEO: Can Peyton Manning Throw?
Denver was Manning's first visit and reports out of Denver continue to say the Broncos are the favorite and expect to land Manning. That would bring on a situation in which Manning would replace Tim Tebow (which could make the Internet explode). That is unless Tebow is traded. We're still not really sure how that situation would work out other than knowing that Manning would be the starter.
The Titans not only want Manning to play quarterback for them but also take a front office role after his playing days are over. The "contract for life" from Bud Adams is what this is being dubbed as. From a football standpoint, Manning makes a lot of sense with a very good running back in Chris Johnson and a solid receiver in Kenny Britt. Plus, the Titans are starting to shore up their offensive line, signing G Steve Hutchinson. That said, they do have Matt Hasselbeck on board as the starter and 2011 first-round pick Jake Locker backing him up. In the event Manning signs, you'd be moving on from Hasselbeck and likely keeping Locker to back up Manning.
