The Houston Texans signed running back Arian Foster to a new long-term contract on Monday, avoiding being forced to hit Foster with the franchise tag. Details of his new deal have now emerged, thanks to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.

Foster's deal puts him in the same area as Adrian Peterson and Chris Johnson. Foster burst onto the scene for the Texans in 2010 season, rushing for over 1,600 yards. Foster followed up that season by rushing for more than 1,200 yards in 2012, despite dealing with injuries. The belief now with Foster's deal is that the Texans have put themselves out of position to bring back defensive end Mario Williams.
