The Texas A&M Aggies overcame six turnovers to defeat the Ole Miss Rebels 30-27. Aggies quarterback Johnny Manziel scored two pivotal touchdowns in the fourth, one with his legs and one through the air, to put A&M up for good.
Even though they turned the ball over four times through nearly three quarters, the Aggies had kept the score within three. Following their fourth giveaway, they forced the Rebels to punt. Unfortunately for Texas A&M, they weren’t finished turning the ball over. They fumbled the punt, setting up another Ole Miss touchdown at the start of the fourth quarter.
The Aggies got the scoring started, as it only took them 49 seconds to find the end zone. Ole Miss answered with a touchdown and a field goal to close out the first quarter.
Texas A&M managed to tie the game up heading into the half, 17-17, but their two turnovers in the third quarter kept them from taking back the lead until late in the fourth.
Box Score Hero: While he threw two interceptions, Manziel scored a pair of touchdowns late to put the Aggies up for good. He threw for 191 yards and ran for another 129.
Rankings Ramifications: The win moves the Aggies to 4-1 on the season, and they could garner votes this week.
But Did They Cover? Texas A&M entered the game favored by 12 points, so while they were able to win, they failed to cover the spread.
