Breeders' Cup 2012 Juvenile Fillies Results: Beholder goes gate-to-wire

Beholder seizes control of the race from the gate and wins the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies in gate-to-wire fashion.

Jeff Gross

Beholder broke quickly from the gate, set solid but quick fractions through the first half-mile, opened up on the field on the far turn and held off a tiring Executiveprivilege to win the 2012 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Executiveprivilege, the 2/1 morning line favorite, went to the gate at odds of 3/2 and had every chance to win the race in the final furlongs but drifted towards the center of the track at the wire. Dreaming of Julia finished third to round out the trifecta.

There were no scratches in the field.

Beholder is a two-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes out of a Tricky Creek mare (Leslie's Lady), trained by Richard Mandella and ridden by Garret Gomez.
