Pacers vs. Bobcats 2012 results: Charlotte snaps streak with 90-89 win

The Charlotte Bobcats won their season opener, snapping a 23-game regular-season losing streak.

The Charlotte Bobcats defeated the Indiana Pacers in their season opener Friday night, 90-89. With the win, Charlotte snapped a 23-game regular-season losing streak.

The Bobcats lost the final 23 games of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season, finishing with a 7-59 record. The .106 win percentage was the worst in NBA history. Charlotte averaged 87.0 points per game and shot 41.4 percent from the field last season, ranking last in the association in both categories.

Against the Pacers, the Bobcats shot 36.5 percent, but Kemba Walker was able to lead the team to victory. The second-year guard out of UConn filled up the stat sheet, collecting 30 points, five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block. Walker was 10 of 21 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line. Gerald Henderson scored 18 points and tallied five steals, three assists, two blocks and a rebound.

Lance Stephenson came off the bench to lead the Pacers. Stephenson scored 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting and had six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

The Bobcats will try to keep their undefeated season intact when they play at Dallas Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Indiana next hosts Sacramento Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
