As expected, Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III is a fast human being.
On Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, we found out exactly how fast. Unofficially, Griffin ran times or 4.38 and 4.41 seconds in the 40-yard dash. As of this writing, he is unofficially .2 seconds faster than any quarterback who has run thus far. The NFL will make times official later today. RG3 will remain faster than you regardless.
As Doug Farrar of Yahoo! Sports points out, Griffin's top speed was 24.6 miles per hour. By the look of his runs, Griffin could have run even faster. On both of his runs, Griffin immediately veered to the right instead of running a straight line. After all, the difference between 4.38 and 4.35 is extremely(!) important for a quarterback. (Note: This is sarcasm)
The fastest quarterback at the Combine last year, Tyrod Taylor of the Baltimore Ravens, ran a 4.51.
Quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers will be working out all day. The most important run, however, is over.
