In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King of Sports Illustrated points out the terribleness of the 2006 NFL Draft to make a point about the Houston Texans. For a refresher, that was the year of Mario Williams, Reggie Bush, Vince Young and Matt Leinart.

As King notes, the top 10 picks from that year's draft have been on 19 different teams. Only D'Brickashaw Ferguson, AJ Hawk, Vernon Davis and Michael Huff remain on the team that drafted them. If you extrapolate further, it gets even worse. Only 14 players from the first round that year remain on the team that drafted them.

No player from that draft has bounced around more than linebacker Bobby Carpenter. He's gone from the Cowboys to the Rams, Dolphins, Lions and now he's on the Patriots. Tye Hill, an undersized cornerback out of Clemson, started with the Rams before going to the Falcons, Titans and Lions. He didn't play in the NFL in 2011. Running back Laurence Maroney is also out of the NFL. He was drafted by the Patriots before Bill Belichick somehow turned him into a fourth-round pick from the Broncos. That pick was then traded to Seattle for Deion Branch. Who did the Seahawks get there? Emerging star linebacker KJ Wright.

Check out the history of the first round after the jump. Read King's MMQB here.
