2013 NFL Combine results: Zaviar Gooden is fastest linebacker in 40-yard dash

Zaviar Gooden's official 40-yard dash time was actually faster than his unofficial time.

Dak Dillon-US PRESSWIRE

Linebacker Zaviar Gooden continued to have an impressive NFL Combine Monday, as he recorded a 40-yard dash time of 4.47 seconds. That's faster than his unofficial time and makes him the fastest linebacker at the Combine.

While Gooden's size -- 6-foot-1, 234 pounds -- isn't great, he has made up for it with other attributes. His reach is 32 1/4 inches, impressive for his overall size, and in addition to a blazing 40, he completed 27 reps on the bench press, which is tied for fourth-best among linebackers.

Injuries hampered Gooden during his senior season at Missouri, and he finished the year with 61 tackles and four tackles for loss. As a junior, he led the Tigers in tackles with 80, and he compiled six tackles for loss, two interceptions and one sack.

If Gooden continues to perform well at the Combine, his draft stock will improve despite his less-than-stellar size.
