Tyler Ennis on Wayne Simmonds: 'I wish he got suspended'

Buffalo Sabres forward Tyler Ennis is not happy with Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds. More specifically, he is not happy that Simmonds was not suspended.

During Sunday night's game between the Flyers and Sabres, Simmonds connected on a hit of Ennis that the Sabres believed to be from behind. Simmonds was not penalized on the play. However, Ennis was forced to leave the game and has not played since, missing Tuesday night's game against the New York Rangers.

Despite requiring stitches, he was not concussed on the play.

Ennis believes Simmonds's hit was dirty, despite some opinions that Ennis turned his back, via the Olean Times Herald:

"People can say I turned and stuff. It's happened before where guys turn and it's no problem. But I had a problem with that one. I feel like he was on my numbers the whole time. I feel like he kind of launched into me. I thought it was dirty."

In the aftermath of the incident, Ennis admitted that he wished Simmonds faced supplemental discipline for the play, whether that be a fine or a suspension:

"I wish he got suspended or fined or something. I wasn't happy with it. I'm not happy that he didn't."

Ennis is hoping to return to action on Saturday when the Sabres host the Ottawa Senators.
