#Panquake: The pancake marathon for charity

How many pancakes can two men eat over 24 hours? We intend to find out. Prepare for the FLAPJACKALYPSE.

I'm about to do something incredibly foolish for charity. And I can't wait.

On June 11, Pete Holby and I will eat as many pancakes as possible in a 24-hour period to raise at least $5,000 for a nonprofit that helps prevent domestic violence. Please donate to help us reach our goal.

It all started with a tweet over two years ago:

The event

Beginning at 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday, June 11, we'll sit in a Denny's booth for 24 hours, eating pancakes for a good cause and trying not to overdose on syrup. The event will be live-streamed on SB Nation and will be accompanied by live-tweets, a live blog and high-profile guests stopping by during the event.

The best part, of course, is that it's all for charity. Denny's has agreed to donate $1 per pancake we consume to our local charity. But you can help us blow away our goal, no matter how many pancakes we're able to eat.

The charity

We are partnering with Laura's House, a nonprofit based out of Orange County that is dedicated to changing social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse. Laura's House also offers a 24/7 hotline and provides services to men, women, children, the elderly population, the LGBT community and teens.

You can read more about Laura's House here.

How you can help!

We've created a Crowdrise page where you can donate any amount to this great cause.

If we meet our goal of $5,000, we'll let our readers choose our next ridiculous eating challenge. (Caveat: said challenge must involve actual edible food.)

But we have other incentives, too!

If you donate $20 or more, we'll plug whatever you like (website, Twitter account, whatever) on both the livestream AND on our podcast!

If you donate $30 or more, Pete and I will send you a sketch, poem or limerick on a Denny's placemat or to-go menu!

If you donate $50 or more, you get to pick the topic or topics for an upcoming episode of our podcast!

If you donate $100 or more (by June 11), you have the option to be our guest on the FLAPJACKALYPSE livestream!

If we hit $2,500 in total donations, Bill will write an all-new installment of his generally-liked SkyMall series!

If we hit our goal of $5,000, Bill and Brandon Stoud will write an ALL-NEW installment of their world-famous 40 Worst Rob Liefeld Drawings series! Check out Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

Click here to donate. After you've donated, just send an email to with your request. We look forward to hearing from you!

You can also spread the word by using #panquake on Twitter when you talk about the FLAPJACKALYPSE and by watching and commenting during the event.

About us: Pete and I are the co-hosts of Scientific Podcast Goes Boink, who last September arranged the Doritos Locos Throwdown Oh-Twelve, the first installment of what is to be an annual taco eating contest. Other than that, we're just your general Internet knuckleheads, ruining one food at a time for ourselves.

So clear your calendars and bookmark this page, which will be updated with information, including where you can find the live streaming video as we get closer to that fateful day.
