I'm about to do something incredibly foolish for charity. And I can't wait.
On June 11, Pete Holby and I will eat as many pancakes as possible in a 24-hour period to raise at least $5,000 for a nonprofit that helps prevent domestic violence. Please donate to help us reach our goal.
It all started with a tweet over two years ago:
Denny's is open 24 hrs and now has all-you-can-eat pancakes. You can spend the rest of yr life eating pancakes at Denny's

The event
Beginning at 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday, June 11, we'll sit in a Denny's booth for 24 hours, eating pancakes for a good cause and trying not to overdose on syrup. The event will be live-streamed on SB Nation and will be accompanied by live-tweets, a live blog and high-profile guests stopping by during the event.
The best part, of course, is that it's all for charity. Denny's has agreed to donate $1 per pancake we consume to our local charity. But you can help us blow away our goal, no matter how many pancakes we're able to eat.
The charity
We are partnering with Laura's House, a nonprofit based out of Orange County that is dedicated to changing social beliefs, attitudes and the behaviors that perpetuate domestic violence while creating a safe space in which to empower individuals and families affected by abuse. Laura's House also offers a 24/7 hotline and provides services to men, women, children, the elderly population, the LGBT community and teens.

We've created a Crowdrise page where you can donate any amount to this great cause.
If we meet our goal of $5,000, we'll let our readers choose our next ridiculous eating challenge. (Caveat: said challenge must involve actual edible food.)
But we have other incentives, too!
