Fantasy football rankings, Week 7: Wide receivers for standard, PPR leagues

New, comment

We take a look at a few receivers that broke out in Week 6 and the latest injury news. Those reports long with our Week 7 rankings.

Week 6 was crazy with some new names standing out among the top scoring wide receivers. Andre Holmes followed up his strong performance in London by catching four receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns. He has probably replace Rod Streater in the starting lineup, even after Streater returns from his injury. He'll experience some ups and downs based on the Raiders schedule but should provide value especially in Weeks 11-16. Brandon LaFell caught four passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. He seems to be earning Brady's trust but still has to battle Edelman and Gronk for targets. With Stevan Ridley going down, the Patriots may have to lean on the passing game. Keep an eye on the situation, you can never trust which way the Patriots are going to go. Lastly, Mohamed Sanu took advantage of the absence of AJ Green by catching five balls for 70 yards and a touchdown. Sanu will continue to receive the targets with Green out and Marvin Jones on IR. The Bengals have a bunch of tasty matchups down the stretch.

On the injury front, Victor Cruz tore his PCL and is out for the season. Odell Beckham Jr. will jump into the starting lineup and needs to be grabbed in all formats. Beckham looks like the real deal but will no doubt experience ups and downs in the Giants passing game. As stated above, Marvin Jones is out for the season. The ankle injury in Week 5 is the likely cause. The Bengals have added Greg Little to their roster to replace Jones. Sticking with the Bengals, AJ Green is still week to week with his toe injury. He's going to miss this week but could also miss Week 8. This looks like a lingering injury that could be something he deals with the whole season.

Fantasy Rankings: QB RB WR TE D/ST

Calvin Johnson also sat out Week 6. We believe he'll miss Week 7 but keep an eye on the practice reports to see if he's close to making a return. Eddie Royal suffered a rib injury against the Raiders but should play this week. He's scored five touchdowns over his last four games. He's a great WR3/flex play on a weekly basis. Philadelphia and Tampa Bay are on bye this week. That means we'll be without Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper, Jordan Matthews, Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.

Jarvis Landry has burst on the scene in Miami. He led the team in receiving against the Packers in Week 6. Landry is a rookie out of LSU and should continue to earn the trust of Ryan Tannehill. I like the Dolphins schedule and can see Landry turning into a mid-season sleeper. Staying in the AFC East, Chris Hogan of the Bills, is starting to create some buzz. He's a deep sleeper since he plays for the Bills and is their third receiver. He caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown against New England. Orton has sparked the passing game in Buffalo and Hogan should benefit in certain matchups.
