Chris Algieri needed a knockout coming into the 12th round against Manny Pacquiao, and that clearly wasn't going to happen. ...or was it? (It wasn't.)
Instead, it was one last round like all the others: Algieri moving, throwing a few punches, Pacquiao landing better and Algieri getting outclassed.
While the knockout didn't come, it's clear that Pacquaio's power is still a factor as he scored a ton of knockdowns throughout the fight (even if some were the result of slipping on a wet logo). Pacquiao hasn't gotten a knockout in a long time, but he's hurting larger opponents with regularity.
The last round ended with Pacquiao landing, dancing and then walking back to his corner as Algieri hugged him. The two sides then congratulated the other corner before Pacquiao began to celebrate.
SB Nation scored the round 10-9 Pacquiao and the fight 119-103 for Pacquiao.
The official scorecards read: 119-103, 119-103 and 120-102 all for Manny Pacquiao.
