Fantasy football rankings, Week 10: Defense/Special Teams

Why has the Miami defense not been getting more love for its fantasy dominance?

Ten times in the 2014 NFL season, a defense/special teams unit has put up 20-plus fantasy points in a game. That's once each for Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Green Bay, Houston, Kansas City, New England and Philadelphia, and two for Miami.

Seventy times this season, a defense/special teams unit has put up 10-plus fantasy points in a game. I'm not going to run through the entire list this time, but it maxes out at four for an individual team - except Miami, which has done it six times.

Early in the season, we started dismissing the fantasy value of Ryan Tannehill, because the team struggled a bit out of the gate, and there were murmurs about his benching. Heck, even an early-in-the-season Week 5 bye made it easy to overlook the Dolphins. On top of that, they didn't have any truly dominant games early on - good games, to be sure, but not dominant ones. Even today, sitting as the best fantasy defense in the league, the Dolphins are only the 16th-most owned defense in Yahoo! fantasy leagues, at 46 percent.

And the Dolphins still have two games against the Jets to go.

This week, successful defenses like the Patriots, Texans and Colts are on bye (as are San Diego, Washington and Minnesota). If you're without one of your defenses, time to check to see if you're in one of the 56 percent of leagues where Miami is available. Heck, if you have a defense playing this week, there's every chance Miami is a better option.

Maybe it won't continue. But a defense as dominant as Miami's has been needs to be owned.

Okay, on to the Week 10 rankings:
